(HEAL-Link) invests in infrastructure and researcher support services for its member institutions, connects with the European Open Science ecosystem, and collaborates with partners to develop training modules that promote best practices in key components of Open Science, such as Open Access and Research Data.
Following the successful completion of the first, second, and third cycles of the training programme “Quickstart in Open Science,” HEAL-Link announces the fourth cycle, which will take place in the spring semester of 2026, specifically in March.
The fourth cycle introduces you to HEAL-Link’s “flipped classroom” model and, as in previous cycles, includes the thematic modules “Quickstart in Open Access” and “Quickstart in Research Data Management.” Both modules begin with asynchronous learning (theory) through the OpenPlato platform and conclude with live online sessions (practice) via Zoom.
To receive the official, machine-readable certificate—ready for your digital skills wallet—you must complete the courses on the OpenPlato platform and then attend one of the two live online sessions.
The thematic module “Quickstart in Open Access” began on Monday, 2 March 2026, and registrations are open to all members of the HEAL-Link community.
What participants said about the training programme:
“For me, perhaps the most positive aspect is that Quickstart in Open Science provides a lawful and ethical way to address certain dysfunctions of the contemporary scientific landscape. For this reason, it is particularly valuable that it is offered to researchers at the beginning of their careers.”
Diamantina Nikolaou
PhD Candidate, University of Patra

The training programme “Quickstart in Open Science” is implemented within the framework of the European project PATTERN (Piloting open and responsible Activities and Trainings Towards the Enhancement of Researchers Networks, HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ERA-01). It is structured in successive phases of training sessions and is addressed to early-career researchers with little or no prior experience who wish to gain a concise and interactive introduction to the importance of Open Access and Research Data Management.
