Good publishing practices

To increase the visibility of your research:

  • Choose reputable journals with high-quality publishing processes that support reliable dissemination of research, using digital identifiers such as the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and the Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID). Consult the guide for creating an ORCID account.

  • Prefer to retain your intellectual property rights, so that you maintain full control over decisions regarding your work. Consult the Creative Commons (CC) licenses.

  • Opt for Open Access, so that your work is available to those who do not have subscriptions to scientific journals, in line with the University’s Open Access policy.

  • Make use of the transformative agreements of the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-Link) with international publishers, which allow partial or full waiver of Article Processing Charges (APCs).

  • Consult the list of Open Access titles included in HEAL-Link’s transformative agreements with international publishers, which allow partial or full waiver of APCs.

  • Follow the Open Access policy of the University of Macedonia.

  • Deposit your work in the institutional repository Ruomoplus. Consult the submission guide for publications in the Ruomoplus Institutional Repository of Academic Works.

  • Maintain your profile in Google Scholar. Consult the guide for creating a Google Scholar profile.

  • Maintain your profile in the Scopus citation database. Consult the guide for merging multiple profiles in Scopus.

  • Use DOIs to ensure persistent and reliable links to your publications.

  • Report research funding details (or Open Access support) in your publications and data.

  • Deposit your research data, along with their identifiers, in specialized repositories to facilitate tracking of their use.

Consult the following resources:

  • DORA (Declaration on Research Assessment)
A set of recommendations addressed to research funders, research and academic institutions, and publishers, aiming to revise the way researchers and research outputs are evaluated.

  • CoARA (Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment)
A coalition of organizations that signed the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment, which has been in effect since 2022. This Agreement is supported by the European Commission and other international institutions.
